I paid for renting a car, 1 month ago, online. Before, I called to Herz Budapest Airport office, to ask how much they keep deposit from my credit card. The person (a woman) from the office (not very polite), said, because I didn't pay any insurance, the deposit will be the maximum: 900 euro. I said ok. So, when I arrived in Budapest, to take my car from the Herz, a man, checked my documents, credit card, etc, everything fine and he told me that the deposit has to be 3000 Euro!!! ??? I explained him that his colleague told me the maximum deposit, without insurance is 900 euro. He couldn't understand and at the end he said that he's colleague made a mistake. Like that I remained without renting a car from Herz, but paid for it. Now, I have struggle to obtain back the refund for the car, which I didn't rent. I don't recommend this Herz from the airport (others I didn't try and for sure I will never try). ???

A place of horror !!!!!! Do not get close !!!!!!! We took a car per day and purchased a full cancellation for damages and returned it without a scratch and after two days we received a charge of 1300 €. Of course they did not bother to send us an email or message detailing what and why ... After many phone calls, they explained that we had scratched their dashboard and when we got the pictures we saw that it was a very small scratch and needless to say we did not do it. Nothing helped and we just ate it. BEWARE !!!!!! Do not approach this company !!!!

Ugly place. They started charging money after I returned the car and got all good papers from accepting person. The even did not try to send me email or wa message why they charge money. Maybe tried to call but I don’t use gsm in roaming. It is 2022. Use internet messengers. Never recommend this car rental. Only if you buy full insurance. Cars are good. I really like their car but Service is awful.

Would give 0 stars if it were possible! As so many others have mentioned, this place is a scam! As many others here have also experienced, after I left the property, they charged me nearly 900 euros for minor scratches that were already on the car. It’s also impossible to reason with them through email as they’re committed to ripping off customers and then lying about it. Horrific experience. Will be filing a complaint with the international headquarters.

Service was good 'but' got a brand new Suzuki car and felt like a alpha tester for software. The first 2 hours navigation on Android Auto got crazy and continuously changed direction. I assume there is an internal compass to the car that requires calibration when new (which has not be performed by Hertz) . Also Android Auto is continously disconnecting, the car gives a lot and repeated warnings that do not make sense, speed warnings on the highway that are only applicable for the exit, and much more. So driving especially at night gets kind of dangerous as there is a lot of distraction.

Be careful of this scam!!!, charge me for 1,200euro for a small scratch under the bumper that i doubt if i did . I asked for photos from the day that i took the car i didnt get an answer just reply that " my colleague check the car 4 times " Shame on you.

Very good smooth service and plenty of cars to hire ar reasonable prices. Hired one recently and got a brand new Kia Ceed automatic for a small extra, Gary and other staff are very friendly and helpful too

Day light photo: Made by Hertz. Alleged damage is on the most left part of the silver plastic line. Night light photo: Made by me when dropped off the car. [UPDATE] Exchanged about 5 emails with Hungarian customer support. Surrealistic experience. - They asked for photos that proves my claim. Sent them over. Answer: "unfortunately, only the inspection of our check-in agents can be accepted." - As we all know, it is not true. - I claim that there was no damage at the time of return, - again, pictures show it is was indeed the case - Answer:According to Terms and Conditions while one is leasing the car this person is liable for any damage even it was not caused by him/her. So I explained again: I did not lease the car at the time of damage. This information does not seem to sink in. I have got a couple of long and extremely dump emails telling me tales and stories. But no evidence or legal ground is provided. I am now organizing all communication, photos, documents and going to debate the charge at my credit card company. --------------------- Same story as so many shared here before. I rented the car, returned with a full tank, and without any damage. Surprise-surprise, I have been charged EUR 300 compensation + EUR 20 Admin fee as the right bumper is allegedly damaged. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the pictures show EUR 300 worth of damage, according to Hertz Budapest. Unfortunately for them, I made several pictures when returning the car, including a couple of super close ones of the bumpers, which show no damages whatsoever. So complain has been filed in Hungary and the US. Moral of the story: reviews are true. Look for another company. If you made the mistake of renting from Hertz Budapest, make sure to take as many pics as possible when you rent the car and when you return it. I expect the same response as all previous customers got here before, so let me spare you, dear Hertz BP, the effort. "Each damage means extra expense for us, even if it came from regular use, and they devaluate the vehicle when we might sell it." Well, it is a you-problem. Here is why: Damages caused by regular use are called "wear and tear" and are not the financial responsibility of the customer. It can not be transferred to the customer at an extra charge. Only damages. Do not believe me; check it yourself. Also, it is called "Depreciation and amortization" on your balance sheet and triggers tax benefits. Again, you can not charge for D&A. So kindly ask you, stop talking nonsense and quit ripping off your customers.
